Absolutely it is possible. But as already mentioned, you will need to search in mass quantities. Unless you get ultra lucky and find a dumped collection.
I have found 9 in the 3 years I have been searching.

I'm doing a box of cents per week, but haven't found one yet. Just as everyone else said: volume, volume, volume...

I have heard that you get about 1 per $1000 in pennies.

I usually accumulate coins from change and eventually take to the bank. Just for the fun of it, I usually throw in some Wheat back cents and occationally an Indian cent. Collecting for over 60 years has given me a large quantity of just stuff so placing one or more in those bags is fun. Unfortuaately many home invasions are where other coins come from. Criminals just dump coins from robberies where they can.

I got an Indian Head cent in change at a convenience store about 3 years ago. The cashier was a sixteen year old kid who said " That's a weird penny." I was pretty happy about that one!

coin counting machines sort by composition and diameter rather than by design, so virtually all machines will accept copper Indian Head cents from 1864 and onward but some machines will reject copper nickel cents made before 1864

I've found 2 (1903 and 1905) out of about 86,000 coins searched but I think I've been lucky.
