here are the settings I gave sidekick when he got his camera, it may help you also Quote: Here are the steps I use when I am getting ready to take a picture on the camera. I put it in Manual mode, then I will click the display button (this will show you the settings), The frame is set to 2032x1536, quality is set to fine, q.review is on, w.balance is set to MWB, sens. Is 160, AF/AE is set to spot. Those are my settings. I will go down to WB and click the over button which will put it in program mode for WB then I get a clean white piece of paper and turn my lamp on and hold the exe button until the green light quits flashing green, the camera will then go back to show you the settings again. I hit the display button 3 times to bring the little square for spot focus and then push the macro button on top of the camera. I will then zoom in and it will auto focus or if I am going to take a shot of the whole coin I half press the shutter button and the green light will flash while focusing and stay green once it has focused and then fully press the button to take the picture. If you try these and need any more help please let me know and hopefully I will have the answer to help you but that is pretty much all I do to take the pictures. I do have to resize the pictures for the forum but if you use a picture hosting site you probably will not have to do that but that has nothing to do with the camera. Experiment with lighting angles to get the best results for you and as long as you set the WB each time I have found it really doesn't matter what kind of bulb you use, I just had the reveals here so that's what I used in my lamp Just remember this isn't a dSLR camera or anything but you will find it does a great job of showing just about any detail you want to show on a coin and takes pictures good enough for the web of just about anything. In my opinion it is the best camera I have ever owned for the price and does allot better than some I have seen that had allot more MP than the 3.3 this camera has

I'll tell you what - that bottom image, the date detail, is just staggering for a cheap camera.

that is actually where these things stand out from the rest, their macro capability is amazing. You can put the lens almost against the coin and it focus to a clear shot

I will go down to WB and click the over button
Bryan,
What exactly are you referring to by the "over button"?

I've been watching this forum in amazement. I can't believe how such an old camera (by digital technology standards) can take such detailed close-up shots. If anyone has a few of these that they'd like to list on ebay, I think everyone reading this forum would greatly appreciate it.

when I say over button I know its confusing because it confused sidekick also, I just click the over button on the directional kep pad (square that has arrows on it) and then it will just have WB showing and then you just put a white piece of paper under the light you will be ising infront of the lens and hold the EXE until the green light stops flashing. Sorry for confusing you

Quote: I welcome any and all opinions and guidance regarding my opportunity and plan of action. She is being offered a fine price for those coins in that condition. You will not be able to flip them for profit after paying the cost of getting them slabbed; break-even in a PCGS slab would be about AU55 and I don't believe either of them will reach that plateau, much less the higher grade required for profit. 1928's aren't all that uncommon. Kinda like 1909S-VDB's, they're a "commodity" item which has a lot of turnover due to demand.

Happy to report (for her sake) that my co-worker received payment of $600.00 for the two 1928 Peace dollars yesterday.

I should have been clear that the $600.00 came from the coin shop that had made the verbal offers last week, not me:)

As a newbie am looking to improve my coin photography. So far with my Canon S50 it has been pretty dismal. I have a long way to go to match the above coin photos! So, have been trying in the UK for a JVC QX3 or 5, but with no success, seems it's a rare bird in the UK. However, on ebay UK was successful in my £30 bid for a Canon SD630 6MP, 3" screen macro, focus 3-50cm. It seemed a reasonable price for what was on offer. I am hoping it will fit the bill! Don't know what they cost new, but guess it's a few years old. I need to get a small table tripod and a cable release and then it's going to be quite interesting! Will keep you advised!
