It is hard to believe that there have been this many found in a relative recent time frame.
You really do have to wonder how many are still out there.

Being so worn, what stands out to say that it's a 1916? Obviously I don't know much about these....

There are I think 6 obverse differences between the 1916 and 1917 T1.

Johnny has a great picture showing the differences

but here is one article from ANACS
http://www.anacs.com/contentPages/S...e.aspx?ID=16

and another one from slqcoins

I guess with silver so high, I might as well check some junk bins at the dealers. I just cant see on the auctions with the pics not as big as they use to be and congrats on the recent finds

Looks like he's well on his way to putting together a grade set of 1916's, and he's getting the toughest grades first. LOL! Nice find.

I am not conviced that the above coin is a 1916 because it looks like the 2nd bit of hair is present on this one.

Just a scratch by the hair, all diagnostics match.

Here's a closeup next to a 1917 T1

Yep, it's a 1916. Since you used my diagrams, when are you going to send me my percentage cut of the profits?

profits you only see profits if you sell right?

your diagrams are much better than any of the other diagnostic pictures that I have seen for the low grade stuff. I'll give you most of the credit

I was amazed too, there is usually the last minute run up on these and a few snipes at the very end. It never happened on this one.

I knew that.

You are owed quite a bit for the education that you have provided.
