My 1909 Lincoln Has Something Below The Date, What Is It?

Hmmm... Adam, I'm no expert but I think that is an "S" below the date, the 19th letter of the Anglo-Saxon alphabet. It's pronounced "ess" and in this case designates that the coin was produced in San Francisco, California. Hence "S" in "San Francisco".

With the lack of any visible wheat lines, and not a lot of the facial features, I would say VG.

Impossible to grade or offer opinions on authenticity based on the photos ... take it out of the plastic Adam and show some clear photos.

Nice pickup on what appears to be a 1909-S LWC.

Looks like either a damaged S mintmark or an added S of the wrong style.

i had randy campbell grade it for me and he said nothing about an added MM or cleaning, I think what you're seeing eagle is woodgrain.
