'Tis okay.. We'll be patient

Tho I agree that unless these notes are uncirculated, or are stars, they likely won't be worth more than face.. Especially since they are high-denomination notes..

But nice find nonetheless

("nonetheless".. That's a weird word..lol"

well the wait is over.

i am uploading the pictures as we speak!

there are 23 $100 bills in all that my wifes boss found.

more to the story, he went back to the bank to ask where they came from, answer: a woman died, her kids brought in $50,000 worth of old notes and coins! the teller said they had $500 bills, etc.. where did they go? the teller said they had to go back to the FED to be destroyed!! NOO..... anyway, seems like these notes were the only ones left.

i will have a more detailed description of each with the grade I THINK they are. I really need some help with grades and values. stay tuned!

not sure on price for the bills but that 1950 E $100 will bring a premium because it is considered the hardest to find series.

The 50 E is the best and needs to be researched further. Some of the 63A's look good and someone may give a small premium for those.

Book on 63A's - CHCU meaning very little or no teller handling go for about $140 to 175. $100's are a tough sell / limited market unless it's fancy sn etc..

thanks Ceylon

those 63's are crisp. a lot of embossing shows through.

question: on the reverse of some of the 1950's there seems to be a "brown" dirt effect. wondering I that detracts from the value? because the obverse of some of those 1950's are very nice and some are near AU....

I would look at the notes with ink and back stain / mold / mildew issues as spenders.

the ink, mold, folds, dirty etc to me have no premium. the few that look CU check the diffrent auction sites to get a fmv. The 50 e is probaly the only winner in this group of bills. Me I like the older small head 100.00 bills, but I want red seals or star notes in au/cu. Good luck selling them for your wifes boss.

It seems anything that is from the 50's and 60's has to be Crisp Uncirculated to have any premium. Dealers don't want it, and it's also getting harder to spend that money because people think it's counterfeit. If you want to take the time, ebay might be an avenue, but after the fees is it worth it? I like using the older currency, the younger cashiers always do a double take!

thanks guys.

i put the choice ones up on the sell forum. I started it at $200 each. I feel that that might be a tad high. but you think people would bite at $150?

Do not mean to discourage you or anything, but modern currency is a tough sell here on CCF. I once had chcu / pack fresh $2 stars notes for sale which were listed at about 40% below ebay prices and no one took any. I did have 2 members contact me and tell me what a good deal it was etc.

I did sell some $2 star packs to a member at a good price and he knew what he was doing (this is key). Also I know of a member who lists only on ebay for the same reasons and he has some nice notes which I have bought from him privately and he has bought some of my extra's etc.

Currency collecting is still in it's infancy and maybe some day there will be more activity on the BST for currencies at ccf and folks willing to pay a premium.

Have you considered taking the lot to a coin show etc?
