I spent 3 years in retail.

I'd rather buy my coins at retail than work retail!

Hat is off to you folks that can put up with the "customer that is always right" (even though they aren't)

best thing about a family owned gas station...if the customer got on my nerves I had permission to tell them to get the funk out...I also had a gun under the counter lol

I really can relate to that. When I was a kid my Dad had a gas station. Was fun when a customer wanted to complain to the owner about anything I did and I would say I'll call him for you. Then yell out Hey Dad.

googoo, sounds like you have done very well collecting over the years! those are amazing finds. I hope I come across similar finds someday. I always say that I would love to work at a bank, the finds there must be amazing. That being said I would definitely be the teller keep a lot of coins for myself, and probably be the one who says he hasn't found anything either, hahah!

I worked as a cashier in a grocery store back in the 1980s... never saw any silver, but I do still have a $5 1953 silver certificate that a guy came in and spent one night.

Lucky, I've been searching the coins at my cashiers job and haven't found anything yet.

Then again I dont search all the coins because I have to do it very secretive or I might get in trouble...

Nice perk! I managed a bakery but did not find any silver. Just normal stuff.

Makes me wonder about coin related jobs. We certainly have the gas stations and banks covered here. But you would think anyone that owns or works in a laundromat would be a great coin collector or coin dealer. I've seen the ones in my area full of people all the time. Can't even imagine how many coins go through there every day.

"Googoo" if you have 4 grand in paper bills that might become collectible, you'd be better off turning them into silver coins now... might be more of an upside, IMO.

I have been given the idea of turning the star bills and maybe the bills from 1985-1995 into some silver
I talked about it in the main coin forum
the thread was called something about buying junk silver
but yeah I am going to start looking into it once the coin shows start back up around here. The ones by me stop for the summer months

Mmmmmm, I agree => or how 'bout slot-machines and/or VLT machines (VLTs, is that what they're called in the USA?) ... you know => people puggin'-in their random coins all day long, waiting to win a few small paper-bills in return (too bad there isn't a magnet or some sort of device to filter-out all of the good stuff as they're pluggin' their lives into those machines, eh?) ...

sadly, lately I am a slave to VISA/plastic so I seldom come across any great volumes of coins/bills anymore (ahhh, the good ol' days)

I worked 1 year as delivery driver for a chinese restaurant , never receive any silver but a lot of starnotes of all denominations and conditions . Everyweek my boss let me search the tips bucket and I found 1 IHC, 1merc and 1 rousie plus couple LWC's .
My girl works at mcds and about 50% of our silver came from the drawers and change from customers !
