At first...The 2011 Magnetic Cent was thought to be rare. As of late...the magnetic cents have been turning up by the box full. I know a few people that live in the Quebec area that have found them by the rolls and boxes full. I imagine it will be along the same line as the 2009 release. Ahh well. One less coin that I need to hunt for. I still have not managed to get my hands on a 2007 Non-Magnetic, 2010 Magnetic or the ever elusive 2006P Non magnetic. I guess that is one of the things that keep me roll hunting. I live in Soo Ontario. Got to love living in a border town as I usually get a decent mix of US coinage in my boxes. I'm originally from SE Michigan area. A small town called South Lyon. Kind of in the middle with Ann Arbor to the South, Detroit to the East, Howell/Pickney to the West and Flint to the North off of I-96 between the I-96/US 23 & I-96/I-696 Intersections. Grew up in the South Lyon / Novi area.

Yes. I get 2 brand new rolls of 2011 magnetic cents from CIBC Vancouver, so the 2011 magnetic cents are not rare any more.

I was just on the other side of the river in Soo, Michigan a couple days ago. Would be cool to stop at a bank there and get a few boxes of pennies.

Quote: Would be cool to stop at a bank there and get a few boxes of pennies. Only problem with that is a box of Canadian cents will cost you quite a bit more if you just cross for them. You have to figure in the fact that the US dollar is lower then the Canadian Loon. You also need to take in to consideration the fact that you have border crossing fees coming in and going home. Otherwise its a option. The Soo Ontario is relatively boring. Not a lot to do here except drink and fight. LOL! If that's your thing then the more power to you. :) A lot of things close here around 6PM on Saturdays and as early as 5PM on Sundays. Kind of the opposite from most places in Michigan. I really miss the 24 hour stores. I need a Meijer fix. LOL!

Here is my estimate of the percentage population of 2011 pennies based on roll hunts so far this year. 90-92% non magnetic 8-10% magnetic Certainly not "rare" by any stretch, in fact, I found 2 in one roll yesterday.

Well, Don't ever trust those ebay sellers! Sometimes they even send you items that are way different than the ones posted! Today, I went on ebay and entered the words "RARE Coins" and 12907 items came out! There are always extreme pricing on ebay. People do that because they want you to trust that the coin posted is RARE and worth a great value. For example: Several weeks ago, a new circulation dollar (Parks Canada Centennial)came out of the Royal Canadian Mint, which were available at their face value in rolls in RBC. I went on ebay and found out that there was the same circulation coin that was posted and sold at the price of $169/each! Well, let's get back to the topic. At around August, I found about 8 magnetic pennies in my wallet. After that, there was no luck. I am very certain that the non-magnetic cents are not rare. I checked the coin pricing on Coins and Canada website, but there were only prices for the 2011 non-magnetic cent. I suppose that the magnetic cents will worth more than the non-magnetic ones, just like the 2006 magnetic cent without P.

Can't see 2011 magnetic pennies having any value. There were over 361 million minted.

I went to my local RBC to buy a box of cents, the teller also offered me a box of 2011 cents, I said no thanks, but the next time I was there she said that she still had them so I bought them. I tested them with a magnet and they were all non magnetic.
