As I have said before, value is very subjective. To be blunt, your coin is not in the very best of shape; however, it may be able to be cleaned up just fine. If so, I going out on a limb here, but for my collection I might give $15 or $20, if I needed a Gordian III. The problem here is not that your coin is in good or bad shape, but that Gordian III coins are in abundant supply in all kinds of conditions. I hope I've been of some assistance.

Regards,

One last word on this topic. I have no idea if you collect ancients or not, but if you are just getting into this area of coin collecting, don't let price be your deciding factor on purchasing one of these works of art. Of course you have to stay within your budget. That's not what I mean. In this hobby, don't buy a coin, generally speaking, with an eye towards future pricing. Buy it because you want it, like it, need it, but not because you might be able to make a buck or two.

I'd probably just give $10 for it, and I actually don't have a Gordian III yet.

Ill keep your advice in mind JW.

This coin walked into my dealers shop.

I told him I was interested and wanted to know a price. He didn't have a clue where to start and would have to do research when he got time.

He told me to take it home, research it, let him know what I think is fair, and let him know if I wanted to buy it.

I'll probably tell him for this coin he would probably Mark $15 and take $10, so ill give him $10 and save him the trouble.

Still a good profit for him, I think.

Thanks for all the help guys! Seriously!

1.1g is under 1/3 what such a coin should weigh if genuine.

Again, Doug is correct. I meant to mention that last night, but I forgot. I'm assuming that your scale is off (you said crappy scale), because that coin should weigh at least three time that amount.

Yea. the scale I have is really crappy. When I first put it on it said 1.9g, then slowly dropped to 1.1 where it stayed.

I wouldn't trust the weight.

Honestly it has noticeable weight in hand, which any of the 1g coins I have fell weightless.

LOL I just measured a clad quarter... 1.3g, should be 5.6... so yea. scale is garbage. It resides there too.

Ok, well I had a bit of a dumb moment, I didn't remove the cap on my scale.

It weighs in at 4.0g
