Have you thought of consulting NCS on it? That's another way you could go. I think I'd do that before I got out my chemistry set. Hey, just a suggestion.

I thought about it, but I am not a member of NGC, I am a I only paid $156.00 for the coin. I took a gamble on poor ebay pics. I'm paying the price now. I would like to cross it to PCGS but it's not 100% necessary.

If you did try to cross it, I think that's a go. I wouldn't play any tricks with them, though; I mean, knowing what they like and don't like to call "original" for their fans and the purposes of their guarantee. I'd simply submit the coin as is.

Neither PCGS nor NGC want to have to deal with an owner returning the coin because of the spot. The coin will not slab with it, end of story.

Funny, then. The coin is undeserving of a grade due to its verdigris but you do something to arrest that verdigris and now the coin is undeserving of a grade due to its unoriginality.

Jokingjoker, maybe you ought to just spend it!

What happened? Did some of the posts get deleted on this threads? Seems like part of my last post was deleted as well?

Nothing was touched unless any members deleted their own posts.

Jokingjoker, you're joking, right?

Really, the only way your posts can be deleted is if you do it. I think the mods will edit and caution if they think it's inappropriate.

Anyway, on your coin, I think I'd address that verdigris, try to stop it. FWIW...

No, it's just that I had subscribed to this topic and I received 5 emails back to back stating that eddiespin had replied to topic. At that point it was only showing 3 responses. Also, a portion of my response was missing, though, the latter may be my fault.

FYI, coin crossed to PCGS as a 63rb. Sent it in as is.

Interesting....it would have been a higher grade IMO without the verdigris. I'm surprized they even slabbed it.

Did PCGS try to conserve the verdigris? I've seen them do that before!

Figured it would. They graded it down for that spot, though, as it's a technical MS64. You did good not taking a chance on messing with it. Man, you still got a very respectable key there.

I'm more surprised that it received the rb designation rather than rd. The ONLY thing I can figure is it is from the luster being a bit muted. Other than that it looks more red in hand than alot of other coins I have that are designated as such.
