These playing card tokens were minted by The Mint, Birmingham around 1899/1900. There are two sets shown in silver and copper. The round ones are 18mm in diameter and the hexagonal piece is 19mm. These were designed and commissioned by William Comyns, a London silversmith. It is indicated in Royal Commemorative Medals 1837-1977, Volume 1 by Whittlestone & Ewing that there may also be Brass, Bronze, Nickel and Gold sets.

Hiya. Just wondering how the publication of bhmtokens's book is going. Also wondering how best to get in touch when it comes to ordering a copy. If a moderator reads this, please feel free to pass my email address to bhmtokens so he can get in touch with me when the time comes. Many thanks. Spyro.

Hi Spyro and the rest of the community. I am just working on a final revision with my publisher. Once this is done the book should be available by the new year. It has been an interesting process and I have enjoyed every step.
I will post when the book is available. Thank you.

This is my most recent Heaton/Birmingham Mint pick up. Unfortunately its too late to add to the book, but I will share it here. I don't have any additional information besides what is said on the medal other than its silver and 38mm.

Very interesting. I'll pass a screenshot of this to my friend who collects medals and see if he knows anything about it. It'd be good to know who designed it and how many were struck, for instance.

Well now. My medal-collecting friend says he can't find that Warwick Castle Fire medal in Brown's "British Historical Medals", or in Einer's "British Commemorative Medals", though the fire has been referred to online. Several of these medals have changed hands over the last 20 years though, especially one at Noonan's in 2003 for £300. So, sorry but I drew a bit of a blank. So the mystery continues. Personally, I also wonder about the "Elephant and Castle". Warwickshire's coat of arms includes the "Bear and Ragged Staff"...
