Unless they are holding back, it appears that the Big Sky Hoard was as most of my circle of Ike nuts suspected, late date and Bicentennial Ikes, mostly from Denver (of course, it's Montana)

I don't know if they are going to get premium money for MS-66 coins in NGC Holders, but it seems that they are offering some at $220 each with the generic MS-60 Ikes, which will look absolutely nothing like their stock image, are going for $10 and under.

It's possible that there may be some varieties to cherry- but I wonder if this huge buy is much to do about nothing.

Thoughts?

Like most "big finds" made by a hype-driving company (Littleton Coin Company, Franklin Mint, New York Mint, HSN...) it tends to be too good to be true. :-P

The Ike hoard made great news, but they might only get a handful of pieces worth mentioning.

I would expect to see high grade ikes of the dates in the hoard decrease signifigantly in price several years from now once large numbers of them have hit the market and are resold without the littleton premium.
Rest in Peace

If they only paid 10% over face, they'll make out.

I wonder how much over face Littleton paid for them. I'm not sure the family that saved them all those years made any money on them. After 30 years I would assume that inflation ate up any profits. However, I'll bet Littleton profits from them.

it looks like the majority are from common dates, and the majority are being sold raw. Since they chose NGC, I doubt the MS-65s or MS-66s they find (probably not too many as I'm familiar with the series and it's rare to find GEM+ coins) won't command the PCGS premium.
