In keeping with the trend that Steve started and that Doug is about to end. I would like to keep it going by adding my nine favorite Roman Provinicals. My knowledge isn't anywhere near as to what Doug has, but I hope you will enjoy these coins for the next nine days. The first is a Septimius Severus from Stobi, it is 26mm on the legends are IMC SF MVNICI/STOB ENSI?. The reverse is Victory advancing left holding a wreath. Moushmov #6541.

echizento, I'm looking forward to this Provincial thread. Maybe it's because I'm a beginner but I always find it interesting to know visually where these places are located. Location of Stobi...... "Macedonia Salutaris Also known as Macedonia Secunda ("second Macedonia") was a province encompassing partially Dardania and the whole of Paeonia, the second being most of the present-day Republic of Macedonia. The town of Stobi located to the junction of the Erigón and Axiós rivers, which was the former capital of Paeonia, arose later in the capital city of Macedonia Salutaris ("advantageous Macedonia")."

I remember when you posted this before. I like the eagle reverse. Again, I do not own a provincial of Severus Alexander. Nice going my friend.

Another nice coin. The eagle facing reverses are some of my favorites. I listed my elagabalus eagle reverse on ebay and was going to try to upgrade but changed my mind and took it off again.
