Oh, and although I now realize that I can't bully my way to the top, I still had to buy this meek, kinda worn turtle!!
Attica Aegina AR Stater C. 480-457 BC 9 mm 11.76grams Obv: Smooth shell sea turtle Rev: Square incuse skew pattern Grey tone with good detail SNG Cop 507
And Yertle, the turtle, from throne way up high Said, "stevex, you're lucky!" (Said he with a sigh:) "Take care of me lovingly, do share me with others. Together at last, like two long-lost brothers."
(A little poetry never hurts no one! Even bad poetry.)
I do not exactly know what I am looking at, but I am envious none-the-less. I see 400+ BC and I get weak in the knees.
I like the simplicity of this design! Stylistically, it's more archaic than classical Greece. The last coin is a good example of silver crystallization.
