There I was true story, a cold November 16. I lifted my nose high into the air, took a deep sniff..I smelled it coming down the street, I smushed my cig ran around the house, there it was I was right....THE MAIL MAN! "Here you go Mr. Noob" (I have got to change my username). I bit the corner of the package tearing it open, and properly disposed of the "evidence" (receipt for $125). I darted down to my basement took two quick pictures took some fast measurements, emailed the photos to myself. Washed my hands, brushed my teeth and kissed the wife and baby and ran back to work...with this....

Phoenicia, Sidon
AR Tetradrachm 28.5mm @ 13.13g
c.101-100 BC dated AI = yr 11
Obverse: Turreted, veiled, draped bust of Tyche
Reverse: Eagle standing left on ships prow with palm under wing-(worn) SIDWNOS. THS.IAPAS.KAI.ASYLOY AI and monogram Z?

Oh BTW I figured I would add a little background information on this piece it is often referred to as the Shekel of Sidon...I guess it was another candidate for the 30 pieces of silver that. Judas received for turning Jesus over. Although the more common shekel of Tyre (a Phoenician sister city)is believed to be the piece. From what I read it is quite rare and a top condition piece sold for some $3400 a while back. The reference I believe is SG # 5951.

Hey Bing, I once heard something that really stuck with me..."If you cheat and you get caught you they call you a cheater, if you cheat and you don't get caught they call you Saaavvyyy. Could be worse, could be drugs, boose or other women...

I was just playing around with the Google translator and I am now pretty sure the Legend reads, "The Sacred Asylum of Sidon" That's kinda neat in my opinion, they were really talking up the town...eh? Interesting also the obverse, for those who may not know is, Tyche...or for the Romans...Fortuna and for everyone else..LADY LUCK!

Awww guys -- I am so glad I have options....Someday TJ one more tet and 2 punch marks and I am in the good....I pull this off....and she will never know...unless some how she finds a way to educated herself on ancient coins...or I get caught red handed, when that happens I might have to snuggle up to Max...or Bing... I feel that he, being married as long as he has-has been a regular patron of MAX's pad. Scootch over Bing

Would have been back earlier, but I have a sick daughter.
It is that time of year. Anyway you guys crack me up.
And this why I am a single parent, after 21 years of marriage. Now I'm retired, nothing to do but clean coins and take care of my kids. And try to keep up with this fantastic forum. You guys are great!!
