The newcomer to ancients is back with a Roman coin. It would be appreciated if you could consult the images and the information on the flip to help me to fact check the provided information and tell me what would be a fair price. I'm having a tough time finding another example to determine whether or not I overpaid. Thanks

With the wear on the obverse and only a partial legend visible I would expect the price to be $20-$25

The reverse is not too bad ..... But the portrait unfortunately is a bit on the rough side. Most collectors would prefer the opposite with a decent portrait and rough reverse. For a first coin I think it is pretty good. The Julio Claudians are always a good place to spend money and with Tiberius you do get the Biblical angle too (rend unto 'Caesar' an all that). Hopefully you did not go too far overboard on the price. I agree with the above estimate.

The attribution looks OK to me.
An assarion in this condition can be found in a dealer's junk box for around $10.
To find a dealer that would have a junk box with ancients: First you have to find a dealer who normally deals with them. I am fortunate in this regard, I know two such dealers.

If you don't have any reference books on ancient coins, that leaves you with the keyboard to find out what you need to know. Fortunately, there a few forums on ancient coins around the World, but there is only one forum that I post on: right here, in the CCF!
For market current market values on ancient coins, I would suggest that you have a good look at the VCOINS site.

I think reference books are better, but there is always the cost factor.

Thanks for the replies. Based on this information I didn't do too badly. The reason I was so in the dark on this purchase is because I was in Canada where it's best not to use my phone (data runs up to $10 a MB!).

I also agree with the price estimate of echizento.

I love picking up poorer condition un attributed ancient coins.
Then the fun starts. I enjoy the challenge of identifying them. It is a way of increasing the value of your ancient collection.
If this piece was FULLY attributed (as it is), then $20 to $25 would be reasonable.
