Looking for the individual who helpfully saw an error on my Cabbed Bust Half section in the Image Gallery. The coin in question was an 1823 Half dollar. I had attributed it as an O-101A or (Ugly Three) variety but their keen eye pointed out it was in fact an O-106A which is very similar.

Thanks for the Anonymous Help
Ben

It wasn't me, that's for sure. I assume it wasn't Susan either or you would have known. What I can do though, is take all of your Busties and research them for you. Feel free to let me know if you need my address.

Well thanks for taking a look. In my defense it was an early one I'd purchased and attributed it using Al Overtons 1st and 2nd books. I had to convert Beistele (sp?) numbers into Overton numbers. I almost gave up completely. :)

Thanks
Ben

No need to defend yourself to anyone. I have a hard time grading a coin. To do what you and Susan do with attributions and to know quite a few of them by sight is scary.....Good luck in finding your mystery helper Ben.

CBHs attributed by the "archaic" Beistle numbers are pretty swell. But like you said, crossing them to Overtons is not an easy task. It's not everyday you come across a collection attributed with Beistles.

A lot of people have trouble with the patched versus ugly 3, you see them listed incorrectly (or optimistically?) on ebay a lot.

Actually the 106A (R2) is rarer than the 101A (R1) but popularity drives prices in this series.
