Need better pics but looks like a plating issue on the MM to me.When you say dd,do you mean doubled die or a doubled mint mark? A doubled mint mark aka MM is refereed to as an RPM.

Can you get a closer shot of the MM? It doesn't need to be super close, but closer than what you have here. I agree with John that it's related to plating or perhaps a deteriorating die (halo image adjacent to the device). But let's have a closer look.
