Without knowing what the coins are, what condition, etc there is no way to tell if this is a good deal or not.

Could be good. Or bad. Depends on which coins.
2000 circulated 2012 cents are worth exactly 20$.
General mix of world coins are often sold by weight at 1-2$ / pound.

On the other hand, a single collectors coin could easily exceed 90$.

Without specification it's impossible to answer.

I will first have a look it 10kg or 20 lbs of coins so I will first have a quick look before pulling the trigger

Yes could be good or bad. I find modern foreign coins in the coin machine reject bin all the time for free. Wheat cents are worth 3 cents a piece and can be found in circulation too.
