Canadian Loonie Blank - Coin Community Forum

coin amateur New Member Canada 6 Posts	Posted 10/04/2014 4:44 pm About 30 years ago, soon after the loonie was released, I received an odd coin with my pocket change to which I will attach an image. The blank coin is pictured next to a 1987 Loonie. From an amateur's eye it is the same colour, size, width, weight and material as a Canadian loonie. The differences are that it is round rather than eleven sided and both sides are blank. Does anyone know what this is? Is it a design prototype from the Canadian mint? Is it a worthless metal slug. I have no desire to sell as I find it interesting, just curious. Thanks to all who repond. Report this Post to the Staff
