Hi guys!

I am new to the world of ancient coin and I know there is a lot of fakes out there. I just started reading up on what to look for, like castmarks (and it really looks like this coin has got just that) and other signs which would indicate a fake coin. But I really would appreciate some expert advice on the following. So guys. What do you think?

Any idea on weight and size, and any chance of pics of the edges?

Welcome to this forum.
To allow proper comments you will have to break the coin out of the 2x2 and provide clear pictures including from the rim.
Also give weight and diameter.

But wait first for some other comments.

it does appear to be cast ( I think I see a seam on the edge as well?), but yeah..do what everyone else said for a definitive answer...from someone other than me.

First as Medieval said you need to remove the coin from the 2x2 and take better pictures. From these pictures there does seem to be a casting ling around the edge. but that could be a reflection from the plastic. Next you should weight the coin and let us know the weight. Also can you tell us where and who you got the coin from. Was it from a local dealer, ebay or other auction sale?

I was thinking about buying, but I know to little about the coin and all it says is what is on the 2x2. Thats why I wanted to ask you guys. Well I guess it is too hard to say without having the coin in your hand so I will let it go. A very beautiful coin though. Thanks for the input.

When in doubt stay away. Too much of a gamble with this one.

I am with Chris. Even in the 2x2 I think I can see enough of a 'casting' ring to steer me away.

Does the coin have any known 'provenence'? Weight and size, (out of the 2x2), as mentioned before.

If I was paying $1100 I would want a lot of hands-on time with the coin and a lot of (verified) information, simply because of what I have learnt here about unscrupulous dealers and 'fakes'. Remember, believe NONE of what you hear and only half of what you see.
