1979 quarter with doubling on the words on the reverse? I googled it and couldn't find anything on it. I'm not having any luck getting a good photo of it, but here is what I got.
Looks like it could be MD. I took your photo and blew it up a bit. The doubling looks flat and shelf-like which indicates machine damage when the die moved a tiny bit.
Now that you are studying coins you'll see that MD appears on many coins you look at. Some MD is more obvious than other MD. Coop has a collage of MD pic's he posts from time-to-time that show the obvious and not so obvious. If you go to this site (http://doubleddie.com/144801.html) and read up on worthless doubling, you'll get an expanded understanding beyond my explanation.
