Celticsoul Pillar of the Community United States 1566 Posts	Posted 03/02/2015 7:19 pm Again I will reiterate my warning about EAC members like myself as very strict copper coin graders. This is a fabulous coin despite the corrosion. I need to go detecting with you! I will give this coin an EAC sharpness grade of VF-20. I will have to net grade it to F-12 because of the corrosion. This is the C-2 Close Date variety with a rarity designation of R.3 meaning that it's a rather rare variety. Therefore my grade and attribution for this coin is 1811 C-2 R.3 20/12. weatherman6 New Member United States 8 Posts	Posted 03/02/2015 8:07 pm Celticsoul - I live in historic southeast Virginia, and with dedicated research and a little patience you can put yourself on some very early and productive colonial sites. Over the last 15 years I've dug 176 pre-1800 silver coins including 8 hammereds from the 1500s. And my best find was unearthed last fall - a Lord Baltimore sixpence. It graded out at XF by PCGS, but unfortunately the hole will detract significantly from its value. But it's still my favorite coin find. And surprisingly I don't find many coppers, and most are usually heavily corroded from fertilizer action. The two I posted here were rare exceptions. Thanks for your professional input.
