Nice Bugs Bunny! I would say MS63/64 and without the nick, it would possibly be FBL.

Very nice! Frosty MS-64 to me. Typical contact marks for the series but the luster is excellent.

I don't think I could go higher than MS63. I see quite a few marks on the obverse alone, and although they are small, they are there. About 7 or 8 on the obverse. I think it's a great looking coin, but I just think these small marks will hurt it a little bit. If you were hoping for a nicer example, I would gladly pay you 50 cents for it. Who could ask for a better offer than that.

A few bag marks, but very nice example overall. Hardly an expert, but I'll guess MS 62-63 FL. Great find!

Thanks for the opinions. I was thinking in the 62/63 range and no FBL. Do you think this is something to havve graded? BTW I paid 22.95 shipped for it. IS that a good price?

I think 22.95 is pretty fair, I don't collect these or anything so I am not sure exactly how much of a following these have, I just got mine for my daughter just because it was a name she could recognize and now when she hears the name Bugs Bunny she thinks about coins instead of cartoons. If there were a Mickey Mouse coin out there (instead of mickey mouse grading companies) I would have to get her one of those too

Bryan1315, Nice coin, and I'm a bit surprised how that scratch might change a FBL designation. Over at Heritage auctions, I've seen a number of slabbed FBLs that were rather scuffed just above the bell clapper. However, I should really read up further on how PCGS defines their FBL grade, because I've seen a bit of range. Update: here's how PCGS defines FBL: quote: Full Bell Lines Term applied to Franklin half dollars when the lower sets of bell lines are complete (FBL). Very slight disturbance of several lines is acceptable.
I suppose this all hinges on the term "slight disturbance" and whether my halves will pass that test.

another part of the grading game that is subjective

An interesting twist with the FBL designation is the fact NGC is tougher on them than PCGS. PCGS only looks at the lower set of lines, but in order for a Franklin to be FBL with NGC both sets of lines must be fully defined with minimal marks disturbing the lines.

Bryan, the hit you are showing is on the upper set of lines, and would not exclude the fbl designation from either PCGS or ANACS. NGC, on the other hand, agrees with your grading standards.
