Uhhhhg.
To much of a good thing ,,well you know !
Overkill in my opinion and I won't be buying new folders for my Grandkids so these coins will not be part of the collections !

i dont collect moderns or State Quarters. They are good for collecting interest or bringing new people to collecting. But I dont think they will be sending any kids to college. |

For it to be half, you'd need to count everyone who just casually says "hey look, that's neat", and tosses a coin onto their desk and keeps it there. (And I'm perfectly happy calling them collectors, too.)

I don't like it one bit. If they had been included from the start it would be one thing. Wouldn't some already have been released? Well, they weren't included.
I think there should be a commemorative dollar for each territory and a special issue bullion set for the District of Columbia.

Don't really care much myself.
The mint just seems to be casting about trying to come up with more and more ideas to make money and, personally, it seems like just so much overkill to me. The proof sets just keep getting bigger and bigger, they keep coming up with more and the part that amazes me is that people keep buying into it all and shelling out. Oh well.

Don't forget the "Rejected coin designs for the 50 State Quarter and 6 territories and commonwealth series" that will run from 2010 to 2027. |

It's just a way for the Government to make more money, which then goes into the general fund, and is wasted.
However, as far as the quarters are concerned, I think the idea is okay. It is irritating that the folders and albums already produced won't have a space for the new coins.

It's OK. Some folks will enjoy the new coins and some fraction of that number will become collectors. That's good for our hobby I suppose. It would be much more exciting to learn that we were getting completely new, president-free, designs for our coins!

I agree with Hunter. I'd love to see a day when we return Lady Liberty to our coins. I fear our nation has drifted from its ideals and what better way to remind the People that this nation was conceived in Liberty!
Do not get me wrong. I love our founding fathers and this nation has had many great leaders. I feel that if you really could ask any one of them, they would feel uncomfortable with their images on coins, at least on those for general circulation.
Now commemoratives, that is a different story. Don't you think that they would hold even more value, both numismatic and historical, if they did not have to compete with general circulation?
