1980 Cent Why A 2015 Quarter - Coin Community Forum

tagurbit New Member 10 Posts	Posted 06/18/2015 5:13 pm at first I thought it was a wheat mark like the wheat pennies, but umm this fits better and its not just layed on top of the cent and left a mark it is actually stamped on there and there are lines going across like a woodie but only in the front of the cent? TheGoodGuys Valued Member United States 51 Posts	Posted 06/18/2015 5:17 pm All of this is post mint damage, looks to me like the penny was held on a belt grinder or something which created the lines. Why would a 1980 Penny be struck with a 2015 quarter planchet anyway? Report this Post to the Staff

stoneman227 Pillar of the Community United States 2376 Posts	Posted 06/18/2015 8:37 pm I think you have a stain in the shape of a wheat stalk on your coin . The interesting part is that the obverse seems to show a nice woodie pattern that's appropriate for that era. The lighting for the reverse shot may have obscured the a patterns on the reverse.
