I keep seeing these horizontal lines going across the entire surfaces of both sides. Is that an artifact of them being scanned or something? I really hope it isn't part of the coins surface, since I do find it slightly distracting. Report this Post to the Staff

This is a common thing with what I call "crispy" Ikes- Ikes that are extremely well struck and high in grade. I have a 1971-D MS65 CAC, and these surface lines are also present, although quite a bit more subtle on the obverse. The lines are more apparent on the reverse. It sparkles like no other Ike in my collection. Even though it's a Cu-Ni clad it looks like a silver issue. It is blazing white. It's no wonder it green-beaned. This is also a 1972-D that he describes as GEM BU. These lines are also present, much to the same degree as the one offered by Great Collections.
