I saw the 2008 quarters available on the US mints website today. Now that all the states designs have been released, its time to ask which one is your favorite? My top five are as follows:

1. Nevada - Just an absolutely beautiful coin. The Best in my opinion!
2. New Jersey - Love that seen. Very patriotic!
3. Montana - Love that skull
4. Wyoming - Simplicity is refreshing without being boring!
5. Alaska - Although I've only seen the picture, looks like a keeper.

Honorable mentions: Utah and Vermont - Look really cool to me in proof. North Dakota - Nice Buffalo seen.

The worst in my opinion: Maryland and New Hampshire.

Best Year: 2006 or 2007
Worst Year: 2002

Also disappointed in my native Ohio. But the astronaut (Neil) was pretty cool

Dorion, I was looking at a few quarters last night and came across the Nevada one. Believe it or not, I was thinking the exact same thing. It is a beautiful coin, with a lot of details. It looks a whole lot better than a slot machine on it.

I agree Nevada has a gorgeous coin
I also like these State Quarters:
Connecticut--love the tree
Virginia-love the ships
Nevada-pretty horses
Rhode Island-What can I say..I love being on the water
Florida-Again, water..basically an island, lived on the space coast for 3 years, loved watching the shuttle and feeling the ground tremble on lift-off

Worst coin..Wisconsin

Never really thought about it until now.

After looking, I think Montana, Nevada, and New Jersey get the top spots.

I really do not dislike any of them to the point of picking a worst. So I will just agree with Lucky on the Wisconsin coin. IMHO, I would have put Lambeau Field on it, or maybe somehow added busts of Curly and Vince into the mix?

I like Nevada and Oregon and don't care much for Connecticut. The tree design looks WAY too much like a shrub or tumbleweed!

I agree with the other favorites. I also like Connecticut because it's a simple design: they didn't try to cram a bunch of state symbols onto the coin. That's probably why I like the NC quarter with the Kitty Hawk flight, or Oregon's Crater Lake. Montana's is very distinctive for that Bison skull dominating the reverse--that takes some guts to sign off!

On the other end, I don't much care for the quarters with state outlines. I suppose they're a "safe" choice, but those say little about the state and its history. Couldn't Texas picture the Alamo or something equally colorful?

Nevada is definately the prettiest. Alaska's gonna look good too. It'll be fun to see what the D.C. and territories will look like, although I don't like the idea.

Kurt S. Totally agree about state outlines. That's what turned me off to my own states coin, Ohio. Very unimaginative. Same with South Carolina, Massachusetts, Illinois, Indiana and a few others. I believe that had the Astronuat from Ohio or Race Car from Indiana not been competeting with the states shape in the backround it would have been a much more appealing coin. For example, had they put the states backround on the Wyoming or Montana coin, it would have totally ruined them and taken away from the nice engravings there.

But a state coin that I really do like, and that I forgot to mention in my initial post, is Mississippi. I love that quarter, especially in a nice frosty proof.

Nevada is probably the best looking to me. I had to get the silver proof as it does have the motto the silver state. Very beautiful in silver proof. Colorado and Mississippi looks great too.

My home state, Texas, looks not what I hope it would be. Looks boring also, although, not the worst.

Well, I received my 2008 quarter proofs yesterday and upon seeing them with my own eyes, Alaska, is not as nice as I thought it would be. Therefore its out of my top five. Mississippi is in at #5. In general I'm sort of disappointed in all the 2008 quarters. Alaska is still my favorite in 2008, but not in my top five for all the quarters.
