5 Cents Nickel 2009-P Coin

While not particularly valuable the 2009 coinage was pretty much the lowest of the last couple decades so are somewhat harder to find in circulation.

I tend to save the 2009 coins I find but please understand that the coin is worth no more than any other US nickel.

Your example appears to have circulated briefly. That said, nearly 40 million of these were minted. Although it was a low mintage for nickels during this period, there are many collectors that have saved rolls of these in uncirculated condition.

If you are saving coins because of their value, this one really isn't worth much more than the US 5 cents. If you are saving them for historical reasons, or just because you like them, then this is a nice coin to include in a collection.

That does add sentimental value.

It cost you nothing, but you would be lucky to even get 25 cents for it.

If you are interested in having modern nickel from the US at all, this is just about the best one to have.
