So, I am starting a US State Quarter collection.
I have decided to collect Brilliant Uncirculated P and D quarters in a nice DANSCO album.
And then collect the 10 Proof Sets (1999 through 2009) and put them in a nice proof set box that holds 10 proof boxes.
For the P and D BU quarters, I am looking on ebay and purchasing State Quarter sets in the "mint cello" wrappers, which seems to indicate that they are brand new and unused. And that is going well.
But for the proof sets, I am finding pretty good options on ebay and at local coin shows. But sometimes, I seem them listed as "Deep Cameo Proofs". Often just the "individual coins", but sometimes the whole proof set.
What, exactly, is a "Deep Cameo Proof" and is it really any more valuable or collectible then just a regular proof? Or is it just an extra shiny proof?
I just want to try to spend my money wisely on my collection. I don't want to waste money on things that aren't really important, but I also don't want to pass up a good potential if it is there.
Thanks for any advice you can offer.
Regards,
Michael

Almost all modern proof coins are deep cameo proof. So if you buy a 1990s proof coin, you can almost garentee it will be deep cameo. They are the same thing. They just sometimes don't state it. Check the pictures. Make sure they have a black background and a white foreground. That is the deep cameo proof.

Deep cameo and ultra cameo are the top grades in the cameo area. Brilliant proof, proof, cameo proof, deep and ultra cameo proof. And yes,DCP and or UCP have the highest values. Check ebay sold values for an idea on prices.
