Need Info On 1993 Mexican 1 New Peso Error.

Trigger5308 New Member United States 4 Posts	Posted 02/16/2017 1:42 pm I was putting some new foreign coins in mylar sleeves and I came across a 1993 1 peso. It stood out to me beacuse the words "Estados Unidos Mexicanos" were on the reverse with the denomination instead of on the observe with the coat of arms. Google is no help. Has anyone else come across another error like this with the steel ring on backwards? Is it a common error? Could it have been tampered with (It is pitted and scratched in some spots, but I'm not sure if they could be tool marks.)? Any help would be appreciated. Report this Post to the Staff

Trigger5308 New Member United States 4 Posts	Posted 02/18/2017 10:10 am Ok, so according to the research ive done, bi-metallic coins are made by stamping the two blanks at the same time while deforming the blanks and locking them into place with each other. Not sure if this is how they do it in mexico, but it would seem to that the die had to of been incorrect for the coin to be stamped like this. Any thoughts? Report this Post to the Staff
