So there is already a thread for currency depicting coins, (cant find it, would love a link) but I did not see one for coins that have a picture of a coin on them. I have one example in mind, so I think there may be more. I will post my example after giving some of you'all a chance to come up with it on your own. Have fun. *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

I have seen one where there are a bunch of coins going around the perimeter of the coin or medal. John1

No. The one I am thinking of is a silver dollar size and shows U.S. coins on it. John1

Not the one I was thinking of either. I have never seen that one so thanks for adding it. Very cool.

I know of some! Between 2004 and 2007, Poland had a short-lived series depicting interwar coins. Four coins in total were shown (available in silver and base metal). Here is the Polish Central Bank website entry for the series - with images of all the coins. There was also a base metal coin depicting 5 coins ranging from the 19th century up to the German occupation during WW2 ( store link - with image). And before you ask - here's a coin depicting a banknote ( store link - with image). The banknote is a Polish 10 zloty dated either 1919 or 1924 (the design was the same).

Keep em coming guys. We already have more than I was expecting. To put an end to the suspense... I was talking about this coin Pictured is a 1 Fen coin from China 1937. The same design was used on some other denominations in the series. The reverse depicts ancient Chinese spade money. That's a coin in my view. Would love to hear more.....

I think one or more Israeli coins depict ancient Judaean coinage. Ditto with Uzbekistan for the Bukhar Hudat drachm, and Bhutan for the hammered 1/2 rupee.

There are Greece 2 drachma and 1 Euro that have the owl of Athena on them - like tetradrachms from ~500 BC

Quote: I think one or more Israeli coins depict ancient Judaean coinage Surprised I didn't think of the Israeli 10 agorot before the Argentine peso, actually. Quote: Ditto with Uzbekistan for the Bukhar Hudat drachm Tell me more! I have a Bukhar Hudat coin (though maybe from the wrong period), and I'm pretty sure I've seen a coin depicting something similar somewhere but I don't think it was from Uzbekistan...

Quote: I have seen one where there are a bunch of coins going around the perimeter of the coin Actually, John's description reminded me of this one! Hungary 100 forint 1974: They also had this 50 forint dated 1972: Numista.

This 1992 New Zealand $5 coin shows all the coin designs used on that country's circulating coinage over the past 25 years. It was issued to commemorate the 25th anniversary of decimalization. (The marks and scratches are on the mint packaging):
