This is an 1856-P $1 Gold Indian Princess with possible error. It appears to be uncirculated. On the reverse the "O" in "Dollar" is missing. There is no wearing around the O itself and I would find it hard to believe only the O is worn. I don't know what else to think. It is the slanted 5 variety but I have never heard of a missing "O". Any opinions please.

Loss of definition of the center design elements, particularly on all 1850's issues, is common.

This is NOT a good thing. While it might be considered a minor error those who collect this series prefer complete strong strikes.

More times than not classic coinage with minor strike problems reduces value, rather than enhancing value.
