Bidding closed at $26. I'll bet you can get one a lot cheaper on the forty thieves site...

For real, though, that's the first time I've see an off-center one. Is that a legitimate error during the counterfeiting process?

Hard to say, could be a legitimate error, but the counterfeiters have also been making fake errors for years.

"40 thieves" LWC inventory is expanding: 1909-S VDB 1922 1951-D 1955 double die All have the same off center magnitude and direction and are available in large quantities, suggesting a common illegitimate manufacturing source.

Kidding aside, it's very alarming.

Wow! Gheeze! The seller can't even tell if it's real or not. If you're unsure of a coins authenticity, then don't sell it on ebay! This seller should have known better and shouldn't have list it on ebay.

Some of these sellers know what they are peddling. Unfortunately, many are the result of the "get rich with pocket change" idea. Neither motive is good for the hobby.

With you Spruett. Even the ones that do know better are just being very careless of their own actions. Etheir way as said, not a good motive for the hobby. Another warning to new collecters.
