TheForce Pillar of the Community United States 4867 Posts	Posted 04/22/2018 9:53 pm I find it remarkable how scarce many older Canadian coins are, from the 50's for example. I lost a bid on a 1955 quarter tonight. I am kicking myself for not bidding more as it sold for $13 and some change. It was uncirculated and flashy. There are only 2 pages on ebay for that date and IMO the pickings are few. Many ugly toned and high priced slabbed coins. I did find another listing that had the 55 that looked nice but it was in a group for over $80 and I already have the others from that group so it seems senseless. From my observations it appears to me older Canadian coinage in BU are more rare that most US coins in BU. Silver hoarding perhaps? Or maybe the Alloy Recovery Program? Report this Post to the Staff

I know what you mean, there can be somewhat of a barbell, with circulated stuff and MS-65 stuff, but not as much low MS. There probably is some silver hoarding, but it is often well circulated stuff that seems to get hoarded. Definitely not the alloy recovery program because that started long after silver disappeared from circulation. Also keep in mind the RCM produces far fewer coins each year than the U.S. Mint. Quatchi Valued Member Canada 228 Posts	Posted 04/23/2018 12:51 pm I've learned that patience is key in this situation. One will come up, you just have to keep at it, sometimes for a while. I also agree with what Cdncoins suggested, you might be better off going to a dealer's website. If you don't want to pay the higher shipping, you could always buy a few coins you're looking for or some supplies to make the shipping worth it. Report this Post to the Staff
