I have several proof sets from 70s and 80s that were not properly stored. The plastic is pretty scratched up on these sets. I was thinking of busting them out and putting them in Air-Tite direct fit holders. Does anyone have any negative thoughts on the air-Tite holders or have other holders that are preferred.

Dansco makes the 7091 album that holds 20 years of mint sets as individual coins.

Interesting mtuma3. I didn't know Dansco made those. Hmmm. Thank you.

Air Tite holders are fine if that is what you want to do with them.

I broke all of my proof sets apart and put each coin in the appropriate Dansco album (Lincoln cents, Jefferson nickels, etc.).

I have all my proofs in direct fit air tights and those in air tight tubes. I am not to the point of displaying, but did pick up some of the albums that hold air tights which they will go into when I am ready. You buy bulk, the air tights get pretty reasonable. Purchase all from JP's Corner.

I would do it. It's a great idea, and it will keep the proof coins from deteriorating. Good thread with good questions!

Does anyone else find that the direct-fit ATs are awfully tight for proofs, especially when there's a reeded edge? I started to put some proof quarters in them once, but stopped because I didn't like applying the pressure required.
