Hi everyone, I have a 1976 canadian penny and it has smooth almost perfectly rounded edges that seem to have risen while pushing inwards to the coin. What could be the reason for this? Also on the interior edge of the ridge, there is flaking as if the coin has been pressed under a lot of pressure. If anyone could help me out it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Looks like a dryer coin or possibly been spooned.
No matter the cause, it was not done at the mint
so is not an error.
No extra value but you can keep as a novelty coin.

Not an error. Someone was going to make a ring out of it.

Thank you for clearing that up JimmyD and nemlas! I realize now that I made the mistake of posting this in the Introduction forum!

Not a problem. Happens often.
I have asked one of the mods to move posting
to the proper forum.

it looks alot like when I turned a silver dollar into a ring by lightly hammering the edge a few thousand times.... you can see the step by step process here
