This is the only Morgan I can recall ever owning and I've had it at least 20 years (don't even remember how I got it). It looks pretty fake, admittedly. Not just fake but weird. Like the obverse "makes sense" if the silver was just painted over copper or brass, which is why you would see the darker, warmer design poking out of the mostly matte white/silver field. But then you flip it over and it's (mostly) just the opposite, mostly warm/dark (looks like tarnished silver pretty much) but with that matte white/silver sticking out on the most raised part of the eagle, plus a couple other wierd places including recessed areas.

Adding to the weirdness, it weighs 26.6 g. and is not magnetic. And why would anybody fake a 1891 O, not a very special mintage?

Anybody want to take a crack at what this hot mess is, why it might exist, and how it could get this bizarre 2-sided wear pattern?

Simply paint wearing off? Looks genuine to me.

Agree with paint coming off an authentic 1981-O Morgan. Likely they used the wrong primer like GM did years ago with their "blow off blue" .

Wait, what? People used to PAINT their coins? Why?
Also, is it not suspicious that the feathers are detailed but not the chest or legs? And look at the 'A' in America, like totally mashed out.
I mean I don't want to argue if yall think it's real. I was just almost too embarrassed to post it because I thought it must be one of the lamest imposters ever.

The top of my list of possibilities is an ex belt buckle or money clip mount.

I would give it the ring test to see if it is silver.

If it is a real coin painted over, will an hour or 2 dip in acetone remove paint and reveal true coin?

1891-O Morgans are relatively common and this one has had a rough life. It does appear genuine but worth no more than $20 to most people.
