Hello Sukehiro and !

I'm not sure what's caused your 5p to look like that. Perhaps it's just very late die stage that has caused the dots on the rim to take that appearance, as well as the thickening of the leaf on the left and the distortion of the 'E' in 'Five'. It's an interesting coin. Maybe other CCF members will have an idea. Here's a normal 5p for comparison:

I'm not sure what you are trying to show us with regard to the 1971 2p coins. These are extremely common coins with a mintage of 1,454,856,250. From your photos I can't see anything unusual: they look just like the ones I get in change every other day.

Those 2p coins are the oldest uk coins still in circulation, along with the 1971 1p.

Almost all the letters on Five Pence have random doubling. There are many errors on 5P coins. The 1971 is common yet controversial at the moment since it was sold for 14k on ebay.Some are selling for face value to destroy the trend. Tnx for your replies.
