PCGS - We've seen some beautifully toned Jefferson nickels come in recently, including this rainbow 1959-D graded PCGS MS66 and a subtle blue 1963 Proof graded PCGS PR67. Which one do you like more?

I prefer the blue but both are very nice.

Delightful toning like this can be done by resting **FDC coins on chlorinated white paper in sunlight, on a window sill. Keep away from dust by covering with a small glass jar. Enclose in an airtight when ready.
A reasonably safe procedure, but cannot return to original.

I don't do it.
I prefer blast white coins, as near to 'as struck' condition as possible.
Nice coin nevertheless.

**FDC = Fleur De Coin = a very high grade MS++ or PR++ coin.

59 D Everytime for me. The toning is beautiful and I much prefer business strikes over proofs

While I love naturally toned coins, when we're talking nickels I prefer them in shades of blue. Not saying the proof is worse in vivid color.

I have a mid 70s proof set (I forget the exact year) where the nickel has that exact same blue toning on the reverse. It really does give it a nice "cold" kind of look.
