Came across this one, incredible that it made MS64! Obv, a big swath of curls merged together; reverse has a large segment of sticks missing AND the central bands (of "full split bands" fame) look to be completely MISSING!! Is this some kind of error coin? Very wild looking.

"About the typical strike, weak in the bottom half of the fasces although the lettering and rims are strong." -Taken from the Ebay listing.

Weak in the fasces is an understatement.

Weak strike and/or worn die, the center band completely gone, not worthy to be in a 64 holder. It doesn't have the appearance that some object obstruct from striking at the fasces area.

I know the Fasces on reverse is not wear but I would not buy this coin as a 64 . Everything else on this coin is nice and struck up . But the focal point of reverse is dead .
I see a big one on the horizon . Stay tuned !

By their standards I can see how it got a 64. Whether you would be willing to pay 64 money for it is another matter.
