Need Help Identifying Chinese Coin - Coin Community Forum

fplagge Pillar of the Community United States 663 Posts	Posted 05/19/2019 12:07 pm Team, Can you assist me in identifying this coin? I cannot find an identical match for both obverse and reverse. It SEEMS to be a 1 cash, Qing Long Bao dynasty coin. The closest match I have found is an FD# 2321. My coin measures approx 24 mm, 4.27 gm. I need to know if I have a coin, replica, or charm (I do not think charm). Also, I need a ballpark figure as to value, as I have found very large differences in value on the web. One of the commonest coins the planet has ever seen - they made billions of them per year, over most of the sixty-year reign of the emperor. Certainly genuine; minimal value - a typical find from a "Cash coins $2 each" coin dealer's scratchtray. Because they are so common, collectors have examined them carefully for varieties and privy marks. I don't have my Harthill catalogue with me right now, but from memory, this is a mid-period (type E, dating from the period 1768-1774), South Branch variety. This Zeno.ru educational picture might help distinguishing the branch-marks of the period.
