I would really like to add a Seated Liberty dollar EF or better to my collection but they are always priced out om reach. There are some holed Seated dollars with nice detail on e-bay but I don't know how to judge their value? For example what would be a fair price be to pay for a 1877 Seated dollar with EF+ detail that has a filled hole? I'm not looking at this as an investment or for resale. Just want to fill a hole in my dollar collection. Would I be smarter to wait until I can spend more to buy a graded one? Thanks in advance for your comments.

1877 would be a Trade dollar not a Seated dollar. XF40 is $270.

I echo Frog. You might be okay with than coin for a short time, but if you continue to advance and collect you will always regret not waiting for a dream coin. If a holed coin is a dream coin - so be it.

In that case,1871 Seated dollar is $510 with no problems.
