I found my first 1941 DDO! It isn't in the best condition (I think). I am wondering, if ever I wanted to sell this in the future, is something like this worth grading?

Or seeing as it has obvious doubling, would it be better to sell it at a price close to other coins in the similar condition?

So far I want to keep cool things I find, but I am really unsure what is worth sending to a grading service!

Thank you guys!! :)

That's a great DDO! Not the best condition, but I would still be crazy enough to get it slabbed.

Great find and still worth a premium but not enough to justify getting it slabbed.

Ok! Thank you so much guys! It is my first legit DDO :)

But ya, I am totally unsure how to go about grading and what is worth grading, so I am lucky and thankful to have your opinions on this!

Thank you happy hunting! ^.^

It is worth it financially to get it slabbed? Probably not.

But I will say that it is extremely cool to get your FIRST DDO find slabbed and attributed just for fun if you have a little money to burn.

I did this a couple years ago with A DDO nickel that was in horrible condition. Sent it away anyway to be graded by Anacs, and though it was only graded a "good 4", it's still by far my favorite coin in my collection.

I thought I cherrypicked a fun one from an eBay auction and my "hunch" for the DDO turned out to be right. It was my first DDO, and I was extremely happy the grading company agreed with me.

Was it worth getting graded? Probably not! But again, it's still my favorite coin in the collection!!

But my opinion, in this case, is only worth the denomination of said coin :)

Great find, BTW!

One of those sold on eBay yesterday or Friday in about that condition for $13 fully and correctly attributed. So, while that's a steal for whoever got it, no, the cost of getting it slabbed would outweigh the increase in value for the coin. Your coin is likely worth in the $25-35 ballpark.

Great find, as these puppies are pretty hard to come by.

What a great idea! I love you did that with your nickel :)

I probably will get it slabbed as a first DDO keepsake too! I did find a significant double ear 84 Lincoln cent, BU and very apparent double lobe...but it was unfortunately misplaced in some rolls my dad gave me, it was the first day I got my microscope and I guess my first doubled coin...I already tried searching for it again...I hope so bad I find it! If I do I'll take a picture and post it!

Thanks for the great idea <3

And thank you for the estimate, I hope one day I'll be able to grade/judge a coin like that too!
