That coin is not a woody. I am seeing a fingerprint. Woody is not toning,it is a metal alloy mixing error. Also,do not mix up "woody" and "roller lines"...two different things.Check out the glossary, left side of page.

We need pics of both sides to tell for sure but that one looks like a figure print.

Enter "woody" in the Search box above and read many past threads (with pics) on this interesting subject.

What about how gnarley Lincolns entire face & head is and in jawline and ear, also his clothes even look tattered & wrinkled ?

The cent posted has circulation damage to Lincoln and fingerprints. It's not a woody.

This is one I own and although it doesn't have a lot of what a woody is on it, it's still a woody. Just not extreme as ones I've seen from other people. Varying degrees of this streaking in the metal of the coin due to an improper alloy mix where the copper tones at different speeds is a "woody"
I am sure others on here have other examples to post also this topic comes up every so often.

While woodies are fun to find and a legitimate planchet error, they rarely increase the value very much.

A woody actually is toning, it is the result of the differential toning od the different metal compositions of the improper metal mix.

Was wondering about extra ridges or high & low spots on Lincolns face and clothes?

Thanks for the info, John1. I never really understood what a woody really was, only what they look like. On the subject, am I correct that these only exist on the Lincoln's from the teens? I don't recall ever seeing ones beyond that.

I understand that it is not a "woody" but still have question about all the raised spots all over coin, Lincolns face, jawline, ear, and looks like 2 eyes and no eyelid?
