Are the prices quoted on Canadian Coins & Currency for large cents in MS state reflective of a brown cent? What is the premium for a well balanced R/B/ and the premium for red? Let's just use a 1836 ICCS MS65 Red as an example. Thanks for your help.

Sure hope you're not using their site as a price guide.
Their large cents are all overpriced regardless of colour.

That said, in pricing Canadian large cents it is assumed that MS65 is red by default.
The reddest of the red cents will attract a premium, and this quality is virtually impossible to determine from pics online.
One reason why provenance is important for high grade large cents.

I did a little digging a lot of large cents graded MS 65 brown or red brown. So is there a discount off "trends" for brown or red/brown?

There is no "discount" off trends for "B" or "RB". "Trends" is just way blown out of whack. Most higher grade LC's can be gotten for for a nice discount from Trends from respected dealers, especially on the last day of a larger coin show..... unless scarce in 65 or so. You should look at Ebay "sold" prices and lots of dealer searching before wading into "red" large cents. Many Newf coins didn't circulate much.

Thanks Bill. One small problem for me as I'm on Vancouver Island. I guess that I'll stick with online auctions for now.
