I see in latest Coin World (front page) a new find. A 1971-S Proof Ike that may be a prototype or pattern that exhibits elements of a circulation strike. Only 1 PR64 graded by ANACS as a prototype.

Do I hear everyone rushing to their Ike box?

Wish I could find some Ike's. I only have about 2 tubes worth in any condition.

Even though it is very unlikely that mine is one of them, I must make the effort to check it out this week!

It's most likely a case similar to the 1998-S Close AM proof cents. It's just a case of a business strike die that accidentally got mixed in with the proof dies, polished and used to strike proofs. Not a pattern or prototype.
