Can anybody enlighten me as to what I am looking at here - a true error, or just some mechanical while in circulation issue.

Not the best picture, happy to retry, if you need to have a better look. But I think the error/ or flaw is clearly visible.

It looks like your coin took a hard hit on the 5. There's really nothing in the minting process that could have done this. Sorry, it's not an error.
