Here are pics of a 1785 Connecticut copper that a friend of mine recently found within a bag of foreign coins. It's in surprisingly good condition, too!

He suspects it may be a Miller 2-A.1 which is a relatively rare, Roman Head variety. He consented to my posting it on the CCF to either confirm or refute this attribution. I'd previously suggested that he join the CCF. This thread might entice a new member.

Of all the colonial coppers, attributing the Connecticut pieces has been the most challenging for this guy. On the plus side, this piece seems to have strong detail.

The die identifications appear to be correct.

Thanks, Conder .... Knew I could count on you! This one looks to be a rarer variety, too,

About two years ago now, I bought a VG details, 1794 Half Cent from a dealer-friend who likewise found it in a "poundage" bag of world coins he'd bought. Now, I can't help but wonder how many misattributed 1700's U.S. coppers are out there awaiting similar discovery!?
