Hello I am completely new here, so my apologies if I am posting this topic/ question incorrectly in any way.

I recently came across an 1879 Indian Head cent with a hole ( not perfectly round) through the upper part of the Indian Head. I imagine this was done after mint, only lowering any possible value this coin may have had, but due to my lack of experience/knowledge in this area of coins, I figured I'd give it a shot on here to see if anybody could help me out. Possible value/grade estimate? Any info about the coin is greatly appreciated as I'd love to learn more. Ty in advance.

Definitely damaged, probably pierced for use as a jewelry piece.

Value - less than a dollar, I'd guess.

to the CCF!

Thank you. What I figured #128545; what a way to ruin such a cool piece of history. Almost looks as if someone did the glass/ mirror trick or however it's done and burnt the hole through it . Bummer, but thank you for the quick help nonetheless.

to CCF. PMD not an error. Maybe a bullet hole? What does the reverse look like?

May have been done way back in time when that coin was just a coin.

IMO it is a space filler.
And it's value is 1 IF someone would accept it for a purchase.
A bank would ship it back to the Mint and would get 1 in exchange.
Describe it as if there were no picture.
Picture it as if there were no description.
