I found a Wheat penny in a roll that is so corroded I could only tell from the reverse design details that it was a Wheat penny. In this condition it is good melt material so what should I do? clean it to see what it is? If so, what should I use to clean it?
I would say find yourself a table in your house or maybe your desk, see if its a little wobbly at one end, then use the cent to put under the leg to level out the table!!..lol
The best I have been able to get is it appears to be a 193-something.The 3 is barely visible(and the only thing visible) but in the location to be the decade digit rather than the year digit.
It'd only be worth anything if it's a 31-S in that condition. Take it to the sink, put some dish soap on it and wash it with hot water using your fingers ONLY. I've had some luck see dates using that age old technique.
